About Tom:

Tom Dec is currently studying at the University of Connecticut-Stamford while interning for Congressman Jim Himes (D-CT). He will be transferring to Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations for his sophomore year. Most recently, he was on staff with David Martin, the Democratic Candidate for Mayor of Stamford, CT.

In January 2008 Tom Co-Founded an online radio show and podcast, The Weekly Filibuster, along with Ben Goodman whom he met through his work as the Connecticut High School State Coordinator for the Obama Campaign. The show is broadcast live every Sunday night and has hosted guests from all corners of the political spectrum including Gov. Jesse Ventura, Mike Murphy, Fmr. Sen. Mike Gravel, and Fmr. Rep. Tom Tancredo. The show has been featured on MSNBC, Politico.com, and newspapers across the country.

In addition, Tom blogs at The Pragmatic Progressive, a site he founded in November 2009 in order to present alternative commentary about U.S. politics.

Apart from his political work Tom also serves in an advisory role for his local high school’s debate team and performs volunteer field work monitoring local water quality for Earthplace Nature Center.
